LifePortal
LifePortal
http://www.lifeportal.comThe forward-thinking folks at LifePortal, Inc. had an idea: what if there was a website that could help people between the ages of 16 and 25 transition into adulthood? Young adults in that age range, especially those coming from the foster care system, don't have much experience with finding jobs, finding places to live, or paying taxes, for example, so such a website would have to provide tools, answers, and support for people in this transitional phase of their lives.
LifePortal, Inc. came to us with some core goals and features, and we worked together to expand those ideas into a more organic whole that is alive today, with sections for Resources (places to eat, places to eat, job boards, etc.), How-To Articles, Community Forums, and Video uploads -- all accessible to everyone. Beyond articles and resources, members have their own free-form blog space, profile, and message center to share and explore.
We're happy to report that the site is a success, boasting quite a few users, including several youth centers and social institutions. There are some great upgrades in the works, too, including instant housing notifications (useful when you need a place to stay tonight) and online classes.
